Casting is complete for the forthcoming Broadway production of Cyrano de Bergerac, which begins previews at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on October 12 for a 10-week engagement, with opening night set for November 1. The production will be directed by David Leveaux from Anthony Burgess' translation and adaptation of Edmond Rostand's 1897 romantic classic.
Joining Kevin Kline in the title role, Jennifer Garner as Roxane and Daniel Sunjata as Christian will be Max Baker as Ragueneau, Euan Morton as Ligniere, Chris Sarandon as Comte de Guiche, John Douglas Thompson as Le Bret and Concetta Tomei as Roxane's Duenna.
The rest of the cast includes Tom Bloom as Montfleury, Peter Jay Fernandez as Carbon de Castel-Jaloux, MacIntyre Dixon as Jodelet, Carman Lacivita as Vicomte de Valvert, plus Nance Williamson, Piter Marek, Baylen Thomas, Daniel Stewart Sherman, Keith Eric Chappelle, Thomas Schall, Davis Duffield, Alexander Sovronsky, Lucas Papaelias, Fred Rose, Stephen Balantzian, Amefika El-Amin, Ginifer King, Kate Guyton, Leenya Rideout.
Baker is making his Broadway debut. His off-Broadway credits include Howard Katz, Mother Courage, Abigail's Party, Comedians, Goose-Pimples and What the Butler Saw.
Morton received a Tony nomination for his performance in Taboo. Off-Broadway credits include Howard Katz, Brundibar, Measure for Pleasure and the NYMF production of Caligula . He played the title role in The Who's Tommy at Bay Street Theatre.
Sarandon's Broadway credits include The Light in the Piazza, Nick and Nora, Censored Scenes from King Kong, Two Gentlemen from Verona and The Rothschilds. Off-Broadway creditsinclude The Devil's Disciple and The Woods.
Thompson appeared on Broadway in Julius Caesar Off-Broadway credits include Hedda Gabler, Overtime and Oroonoko. Regional credits include Henry IV, Splittin' the Raft, Jesus Hopped the A Train, Othello, King Lear and many more.
Tomei recently co-starred off-Broadway in The Clean House. Her Broadway credits include The Elephant Man, Noises Off and Goodbye Fidel. Off-Broadway credits include Richard III, The Normal Heart, Fen, A Private View and Cloud Nine.
Cyrano de Bergerac will feature scenic design by Tom Pye, costume design by Gregory Gale, lighting design by Donald Holder and sound design by David Van Tiegham.
